Defense Leads Flag Football to Sophomore Day Victory
Decatur, AL – Calhoun flag football closed out their regular season with a hard-fought 12–0 victory over Snead State on a stormy night in Decatur. Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was ultimately canceled due to severe weather, but Calhoun's performance in the opener was enough to solidify momentum heading into postseason play.
The Warhawks' defense once again set the tone, holding Snead scoreless and making key stops in crucial moments. Ja'Kara Clark anchored the defensive unit with 11 pulls, while Leah Haynes added an interception to halt a Snead drive. The Parsons threatened late in the first half, advancing to Calhoun's 2-yard line, but the Warhawks' defense held strong by applying pressure that forced an errant throw out of the back of the end zone to preserve a 6–0 halftime lead.
On offense, Faith Roberson led the charge, completing 13 of 25 passes for 108 yards. Haynes was her top target, hauling in five receptions for two touchdowns to pace the scoring attack. Calhoun consistently moved the ball with timely passes and balanced play calling, overcoming red zone struggles to capitalize when it mattered most.
"I thought our defense was once again stellar, and the offense had some big plays to keep the chains moving," said Head Coach Bart Stephenson. "We struggled inside the red zone but once again found a way to score when needed."
With the win, the Warhawks (12-5) now have a bye week before learning their seeding for the upcoming ACCC Tournament in Dothan, Alabama, on November 15.
