Men's Golf Finishes 5th at Conference Tournament
MUSCLE SHOALS, AL – Calhoun men's golf wrapped up play at the ACCC Championship Tournament on April 6-7 at Cypress Lakes Golf Course, finishing fifth overall with a team score of +33 over 56 holes.
It was an uncharacteristic week for the Warhawks, who battled inconsistency across the two-day event but still found bright spots in individual performances throughout the lineup.
On Monday's opening round, sophomore Jayce Hutchens led the way for Calhoun, carding an impressive 69 to finish as the only Warhawk at par or better in round one. The team quickly turned around for round two later in the day, where Reece Hardiman delivered one of the most notable performances of the tournament. After an opening round 82, Hardiman bounced back in a major way with a 66 in round two, a remarkable 16-stroke improvement, to pace Calhoun heading into the final day.
Closing out competition on Tuesday, AJ Bradford turned in a steady performance with a team-best 71 even par in the final round, providing a strong finish for the Warhawks. Sammy Holmes and Jesse Kilgore rounded out the Calhoun lineup, contributing to the team's overall effort in a challenging field.
Despite the result, head coach Richard Morgan remained focused on the bigger picture and the opportunity ahead. "We didn't have our best stuff this week, plain and simple," Morgan said. "But this group has shown what they're capable of all season. We'll use this next week to rest, reset, and get ourselves ready for district play."
Calhoun now shifts its focus toward postseason competition, taking a brief break before returning to action at the NJCAA District IV Championship Tournament, scheduled for April 19-21.
