Women's Golf Finishes 7th at Snead State Invitational
Mobile, AL – Calhoun women's golf battled through adversity and strong conference competition to earn a seventh-place finish at the Snead State Women's Invitational, held Monday and Tuesday at Azalea City Golf Club.
Competing in a field of more than 60 golfers and facing many of the top programs in the Alabama Community College Conference, the Warhawks demonstrated resilience and composure throughout the two-day event. With only four players in the lineup and one competing through injury, Calhoun relied on determination and steady play to secure its team finish.
The Warhawks opened play Monday with encouraging performances across the lineup. Anna Lowry and Sadie Graham each recorded birdies during the opening round and positioned themselves firmly inside the top 20 at the conclusion of day one. Their strong starts set the tone for the Warhawks and kept Calhoun competitive in a tightly contested field.
Calhoun continued to show fight in Tuesday's final round, maintaining focus and consistency despite the physical and mental demands of the tournament. The Warhawks' ability to stay composed under pressure and push through challenging conditions reflected the team's continued development in the spring season.
Sadie Graham led Calhoun with a 24th-place individual finish, continuing her strong run of form to begin the year. Anna Lowry followed with a 31st-place finish, while Emma Thomas placed 37th. Kenley Staats rounded out the Warhawks' lineup with a 47th-place finish, contributing valuable strokes as the team worked together to secure seventh place overall.
Head coach Richard Morgan praised the group's growth and resilience, especially given the challenges they faced entering the tournament. "This was a great step forward for our group," Morgan said. "We were shorthanded and had players battling through injuries, but they showed tremendous fight and determination over both days. I'm really proud of the way they competed and supported each other. We're seeing steady improvement each week, and it's exciting to watch them grow and gain confidence as the season progresses."
The Warhawks will return to action March 9–10 at the Jefferson State Women's Spring Invitational.
