Women's Basketball Looks to Rebound After Loss to #19 Wallace State
Decatur, AL – Calhoun women's basketball ran into a buzzsaw on Monday night, falling 81–26 to No. 19 nationally ranked Wallace State.
The Lions entered the contest with a 19–1 overall record, their lone loss coming just two days earlier against No. 6 Shelton State, and showed why they are among the nation's elite from the opening tip. Wallace State came out firing on all cylinders, knocking down shots at a high clip and relentlessly crashing the offensive glass to generate second-chance opportunities.
Calhoun struggled to find an answer for the Lions' ball movement and offensive depth, as Wallace State controlled the tempo and applied pressure on both ends of the floor throughout the night. Despite continued effort, the Warhawks were outmatched by the speed, size, and efficiency of the nationally ranked opponent.
Calhoun (11-9, 2-3) looks to bounce back quickly as they travel to Bishop State (11-11, 3-3) on Thursday, February 5, for a 5:30 p.m. tip.
