Women's Soccer Earns Road Win at Andrew College
Cuthbert, GA – Calhoun women's soccer put together a strong performance on Thursday afternoon, defeating Andrew College 3-1.
The Warhawks wasted no time setting the tone, jumping out to an early lead when Reagan Black scored off an assist from Nina Brown to make it 1-0. Black struck again later in the half, this time assisted by Madigyn King, to double the lead. Yoshari Chavez added another just 30 minutes into the match, giving Calhoun a commanding 3-0 advantage heading into the break.
Andrew College capitalized on a set piece early in the second half to cut the deficit to 3-1, but the Warhawks continued to control the match and saw the result through with a strong defensive effort.
"We started fast and really set the tone early, which is exactly what we've been working on," said Head Coach Andrew McCartney. "I'm proud of how we handled ourselves throughout the match. We're playing with more confidence each game, and if we keep building on this, good things will continue to come."
The Warhawks (2-6) will look to carry the momentum into their next match on Friday, October 3 at Gordon College for a 2 p.m. kick-off.
