Sena Nets First Goal in Calhoun History
Decatur, AL – Calhoun Women's Soccer made program history again Thursday night, despite falling 4-1 to UT Southern JV at Jack Allen Recreation Complex. The Warhawks netted their first-ever goal as freshman forward Nayeli Sena (Ardmore High School/Toney, AL), scored in the second half.
UT Southern struck early, building a 3-0 lead before halftime and adding a fourth just after the break. From there, the match shifted, with Calhoun controlling the final 30 minutes and creating chance after chance in the attacking third. Sena's goal highlighted a spirited stretch of play that saw the Warhawks pushing forward and threatening consistently until the final whistle.
"I'm so proud of Nayeli and what this moment means for our program," said Head Coach Andrew McCartney. "We've gotten better with each match, and tonight showed the potential we have when we compete with energy and belief. That second half was a glimpse of what this team is capable of, and we want to keep building on it."
Calhoun (0-5) will return to action on Sunday, September 21, when the Warhawks travel to take on Oakwood University at 2 p.m.
